Through my years of studying art I have developed a passion for using stitch and fabric within my art works, from drawing and painting on fabric to stitching into sketch book pages. I have found that it makes my work textured and lively to look at and something you want to interact with. I have learnt to be experimental with stitch adding it to my drawings and using different methods of stitch on a sewing machine and also by hand. I enjoy to sketch and draw and i like that this Embroidery course allows you to combine both of these aspects. When i came across your Embroidery course it immediately jumped out to me as an area that i would like to delve deeper into. I believe that this course will be very inspiring for me as I would like to have the opportunity to extend my knowledge and discover new ways of working within the course.
The first image you see is of a piece I created inspired by memories I used small personal photographs and enclosed them within a pieces of fabric and stitched together. This resembles the fragility and delicateness of memories that you cherish, when i look and handle the piece, it feels almost comforting to me as I look at all my memories in one.
The second picture is some small experiments i did with emulsion printing onto fabric i was again looking at my holiday and how i remembered certain images, i like the hazy quality to it that is created by the fabric the stitch.
The final image on the page is a timed life drawing i did were the model posed for 30 seconds before she moved onto the next pose we had to capture her movement it that specific time, i think the outcome was very effective i like that the simple lines create the movement, like you can almost see her body moving across the page even thought doesn't have excessive detail.
